Sir Cliff Richard: Statement in Open Court
A Statement in Open Court was read in the High Court today on behalf of our client Sir Cliff Richard. This followed his successful claim for misuse of private information and breach of the Data Protection Act against South Yorkshire Police. South Yorkshire Police have today accepted that its actions in disclosing to the BBC private information relating to the police investigation into Sir Cliff were unlawful.

The litigation brought by Sir Cliff against the BBC in respect of the same facts is ongoing. In a separate ruling today, the court ruled in favour of Sir Cliff’s application to compel the BBC to answer a question relating to whether or not their source came from within the police.
