McLaren, Alex Palou and a reported $30m breach of contract dispute
Associate Charlie Edwards comments in City AM about the ongoing breach of contract dispute between McLaren and Alex Palou, examining the potential implications should mediation fail and the dispute reach a London court in October 2025.
"Usually, it is the sporting organisation that decides how and when a relationship ends. This is a rare example whereby the power dynamic has been flipped on its head.
"If this does proceed to trial, there will be some interesting implications, most notably surrounding implied terms in connection with performance assurances. However, with Palou admittedly in breach and mediation likely well under way, it is probably not a question of whether he will have to pay, but rather, how much."
